I actually liked this movie. At least it was on the more positive side of the spectrum for M. Night movies for me.
My thing was, it's the dead of winter and when "stuff starts to get scary" near the end, they put in a thunderstorm for spooky effect. When was the last time you saw a thunderstorm in the middle of winter. There's like 0.5% chance of that happening.
They reminded me of my nuttier than squirrel shit parents.
I liked this movie but you can only watch it once.
Is it an unpopular opinion to consider M. Night a poor director/writer? He hasn’t made a single movie I can say I thoroughly enjoyed and even though this is a channel pointing out some of the crappy parts of a movie, I can honestly say I have no intention to see this movie after watching this.
just watched this for the first time last night (already knew the twist) but HOLY CRAP these were amazing child actors! I was really set to hate them…but dude you should have removed a sin for the daughter's "inside out sweater" performance. and for the boy? "WATCH HIS HIPS! WATCH HIS HIPS!" literally was so shockingly compelling I couldn't even talk after without choking up. they did an awesome job and I did not expect that. hated the boy at first. but he's a great actor. they were both so well cast.
between The Visit and Old, I realize M. Night Shyamalan is a truly important visionary in how he tries to tell new stories. everyone else out there making horror movies about demons and dolls. but M. Night mines horror in remixed sinple ways. the grandmas clawing from under the bed. or in Old, the woman with the breaking bones in the cave. M Night makes NEW things. even when they have all these weird dialogues with them…he is really onto something.

Ok one thing I don't get is how during any of the Skype calls or even phone calls did the parents who haven't seen their daughter in 15 years and vice versa never ask to speak to each other once(even if you can't see each other) and no one thought that was weird at all
