    The first time , past continuous tense is treated as ' a story tense' because events happening at that moment can be described in very natural and smooth way. Your idea makes me extremely comfortable and therefore its use becomes friendly. What a magic brain you have! This amazing tense turns alive completely , and not just as the rigid rules laid in the pages of English grammar text books. You expressed your ideas clearly through some scenario and other tense.
