My old roommate had a professor that taught a textbook HE AUTHORED, and had a new edition EVERY SINGLE YEAR. It's robbery.
The person who made this video didn’t go to college. You can tell they researched the video, but it’s clear what they researched they don’t know what any of it means.

One thing that sucks is that one of my classes doesn't just require an online textbook, but also a single use code in order to access any of the homework that we have to do for the class. The book that has this code is damn near 50 dollars, and when I asked him for help with this he just told me that "The ebook is required for the course and I'm afraid it would be very difficult to pass without those assignments. For most college classes the book is a separate expense along with registering for the class."
Why do I have to pay a separate expense for the class when I'm already paying for the class? I'm supposed to be paying for YOU to teach me, not the book. Either include the book in the price for the class and give the students the access codes to access the materials or don't use the ebook at all. It should not be my responsibility to pay a third part for my education when I'm already paying the college for my education.
2nd hand Textbooks or rentals are prevented by adding restricted codes? to printed material? did i just come out of a cave or does it not make any sense at all?
The price gouging is insane. So glad that some professors are switching to journal articles and free resources

I'd send it for free. Though if you feel generous, I don't mind taking tips. 😸 But seriously, I have a whole lotta ebooks in here (epub/pdf).

I remember some professor just outright gave students a pdf version of the textbook used in the course because he wrote that textbook and he hated the publisher
In scenarios like this im in the side of piratery… the intellectual owner lose but i think that people that cant afford a textbook to finish their studies lose way more.
I bought 3 new textbooks, 1 for English and 2 for Business. Got them in the mail and realised I paid $439 for loose leaf pages. Rip off.
It has simply become a big scam, folks.
There was one class I needed that required a book that was at least 120 from the school bookstore, bought the same book online for about 10-15 dollars…🤷🏽♀️ Please try your best to save money.
Something that’s ridiculous is that in high school and lower levels of education, textbooks have always been free in my schools. In most of these classes I have never used these textbooks so I asked my teacher one day, “why do we have to get textbooks if we never use them?” She said it’s because it’s the law. It’s ridiculous that hundreds of unused textbooks are free for lower levels of students but can’t be made free to college students who need to use them

Don’t even get me started on how some of these companies get over. Sometimes they call it a new edition but all they changed was the cover art so they can hike up the price. Professors would tell us to find upperclassmen who hadn’t sold their books yet and try to buy those if we couldn’t afford the new book asking price.
It really doesn’t matter if I care about the class or not…I still don’t have the $150 to spend on that many college text books. You instantly, in many cases, go from a world where all your books are given to you (elementary, middle, and high school) to a world that expects you to have a significant amount of money existing out of nowhere (college and grad school) without any preparation. It’s a debt making machine.
I don't care about the textbooks but why won't the schools pay in bulk for the textbooks for all the students. We're already paying for and taking out massive student loans for classes and tuition anyway.
