Karate completely transformed combat sports.
They were able to usher the golden era of kickboxing due to the willingness to test themselves in the ring.
However, not every karate style is made equal. Mas Oyama rejected shotokan in favor of full contact strikes, leading to Kyokushin.
Kenji Kurosaki further added strikes to the head, creating the Japanese kickboxing and Dutch kickboxing style.
This history is as legendary as it comes.

Yes. "To allow full facial attacks or not" is a long-standing dilemma even to full contact karate. No matter what kind of 'simulated' environment, ultimately only a martial art that teaches how to do those attacks, and how to receive those attacks, and reinforce the experience through regular repeats in sparring and real matches, can really claim to "work" at a high level. That seemingly small problem, impacts actual performance and attitude in sparrings and matches to such a drastic degree.
But at the same time, to allow such in a school to teach and train all sorts of people — many not necessarily thinking about going into professional level — is to introduce an actual really huge danger of injuries to your students. At times, possibly even fatal.
There's no real answer to this problem. Even to this date.
No style dominates .. There’s no bad martial arts only bad martial artists.
For me, because there is no hard sparring or even decent sparring in other styles
You forgot to mention Joe Louis and Bill Superfoot Wallace both undefeated Kick Boxing Champs who's Foundation was Shuri Ryu Karate an amalgamation of Chinese Ching ye Okinawan Karate and American Boxing..
Karate without training boxing strikes is quite useless against trained k-1 or MT fighters…not even saying versus Wrestlers, BJJ and MMA fighters
Osu ♥️♥️♥️👊
The very extreme dedicated life long Goju-Ryu practitioners or Motobu Choki both terrify me no matter how much anyone tries to bad mouth karate.
0:00
3:00 Mas Oyama
4:30 Kyokushin karate verses Tai Boxing.
100 men kumite supposed to be 3 minute each without a brake , unless you knock one out and get to rest for the remainig time
Before i watch this, here's my answer. Push/pull. The idea that as you drive the punch with one hand, you create rotational momentum by drawing back the other hand. That and you throw a punch with your whole body not just your arm. Oh and you grasp the earth with your legs and your feet, low strong stances
But the whole thing is about the blocks. They say karate is all about defense. If you know how to throw a correct block, you'll take away their ability to attack by stunning their arms and hands. It takes the fight right out of them.
And if you're into Okinawan Karate the locks, breaks and throws are pretty good.

If the Kyokushin vs Muay Thai fight was rigged than why didn’t the promoter send 3 of the best Kyokushin fighters instead of one guy for the rematch?
Who knew to be a good fighter you need to practice fighting.
Karate is too ridgid for one-on-one fighting. Karateka spend the majority of their time not fighting/kumite, as was desired by its founder. The Kung-Fu martial arts and/or Judo that are clearly present in Karate kata are rarely extrapolated and incorporated into the basics/kihon. Watch any kata other than Hein Shodan, and you will see that the majority of the techiques are not even the techniques that karata-ka train.
The man makes the style, and the style doesn't make the man
I took kyokushin. I think to be complete it needs face punching. Other than that great for standup.
gyojin karate is more amazing
Kyokushin was never meant to be a bloodsport that would end the life of opposing fighter! A Testimony to the mental resillence of maintaining control over expression berserker anger or rage but exhibit pure combined mental and physical strength. This is your pursuit to the ultimate truth. Osu!
Jesus is the only truth Amen
Mas Oyama “The God•Hand”
This is by far the best combat sport channel on YouTube
Karate doesn’t dominate though, it’s one of the silliest martial arts out there (still 100x better than wing Chun or aikido). You wouldn’t use any karate in a real street fight and in tournaments, Muay Thai will mop the floor with even the most skilled karate practitioner
no karate dosnt work i suppose it works in a street fight… ide rather do kickboxing because in the ring allot of martial arts are lacking and just dont compare…
karate is The superior marshal art
Its a shame Vale Tudo was not known for western MA's. Would have loved to see Karate, kickboxers, Bruce Lee style go against Vale Tudo free fighting… Of course at the end we got to see it during UFC early years.
Too bad the World Oyama Karate Organization fell apart in the past few years. I hope Kyokushin can stay relevant in the states.
THIS STUFF DOESN'T WORK! IN REALITY IT JUST DOESN'T WORK! THE REASON IT LOOKS COOL ON THE MARTIAL ART'S MOVIE'S IS BECAUSE THEY'RE SCRIPTED! IN REALITY IT AIN'T NEARLY AS EFFECTIVE OR COOL LOOKING AT ALL! IT JUST LOOKS LIKE A BUNCH OF SLOPPY KICK'S THAT AREN'T CLEAN AND DOESN'T DO MUCH! BOXING ACTUALLY WORKS! BUT KARATE AND KUNG FU DOESN'T!
Kenji Kurosaki co-founder of kyokushinkai. 10th dan International Kyokushin Budokai
no sport can beat muay thai
if u play with muay thai rules & dont limit muay thai fighter
thats reason u should learn muay thai
even if u learned other sport
today start muay thai
i promise u never will regreat
If i see these strikes, nice and low and get doped to pull back, i see a lot of easy hard right hands.
What a struggle from karte master to make karte domnite
I am a kempoist and I could care less about sport fighting.
If you say fight you mean a match with rules.
Its not what karate is.
Karate is a deadly art handed down through the ages by survivors of battles.
It is simply not invented.
Unlike Karate, Muay Thai emphasizes conditioning. Kyokushin tries to do what Muay Thai does, but half assed. It can never approach Muay Thai, either in technique or conditioning. I speak as a first Dan Kyokushin Black belt.
But why boxers just Knock them all out
I wonder if GSP will feature here, considering his MMA style uses very little Karate, at least later in his career. GSP is a Kyokushin black belt, and repped it his whole career despite not really using it actively.
The BEST karate y Okinawa karate
Okinawan Goju-Ryu is stronger than Kyokushin. If you need more information just let me know 🥋
Kyokushin is karate in name only, its training, sparring conditioning are all from modern combat sports like kickboxing, mma and modern muay thai, just like the chinese wushu and sander or sanda or whatever tf it's called. "Traditional and legendary" = garbage, modern = good. The former keep spreading lies and myth to try to scam you while the latter keep improving.
That's what makes martial arts-martial arts…they do sparring and fighting then develop and reevaluate their techniques and method
Martial arts that never do sparring, never reevaluate their apporach, method and techniques, and not trying to develop their own style, is not legit martial arts
